Breast cancer n°1

Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer in women, every year there is a total of more than 40,000 new cases in France, and France only. Easily detectable by mammography especially, it can be detected from the early stages and its treatment can then be very effective; results are excellent (it is one of the cancers that are most successfully fought) and the constant advances in medical research raise new hopes for the coming years. Nevertheless the disclosure of a cancer diagnosis always comes as a shock for the patients: cancer is a disease which is mistakenly seen as incurable or fatal. Some people still believe that cancer is contagious and fear they might contaminate their relatives and friends; of course, that is also a wrong belief.
